Obituary: Pike, Francis Hugh

PIKE, Francis Hugh
(Age 90)

Francis Hugh Pike entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 24, 2012.

Francis was born March 10, 1922 in Roseau, Minnesota, the fifth of six children born to Hugh and Ida Pike.

Francis joined the Navy in 1942 and was stationed in Australia and the South Pacific as a hospital corpsman until the end of World War II.

After his discharge from the Navy, Francis joined his family who had moved to Turlock, California.

Following the war, Francis owned a small cab business.

In 1947 he started his education and graduated from San Jose State College with a BA in Education in 1952.

During his education career, he was both a middle school teacher and principal in Denair, California, Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, and Spokane, Washington.

Before his retirement, he also served as Assistant Director of the Union Gospel Mission in Spokane, Washington.

In 1946, Francis met Doris Thiessen and the two of them were married on June 14, 1947 in Turlock, California.

The couple had nine children, two of whom died in infancy.

Francis is survived by his wife, Doris, and his other seven children: Deborah (Greg) McCowan of Spokane, WA, Becky (Doug) Iverson of The Dalles, OR, Roger (Jan) Pike of Mead, WA, Ruth (Steve) Erb, of Colbert, WA, Rod Pike of Colbert, WA, Ron (Melody) Pike of Chico, CA, and Dan (Nicki) Pike of Concord, CA.

He is also survived by his 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at Northview Bible Church on Friday, March 30, at 2:00 PM.
