TURNER, Julie Anne (Skok)

Passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of March 23 at her home in Spring, Texas, after a long battle with cancer.

Julie was born in Chewelah, Washington, where she graduated from Jenkins High School in 1976.

An accomplished piano player since early childhood, she went on the road with a country western band out of Spokane and eventually landed in Houston, Texas, in 1979, where she met a drummer named Randy Turner.
Julie and Randy were married in 1981 and continued to play music together, raising a family and traveling where the music led them.

In 1987 the couple moved with their two young sons to Missoula, Montana, where Julie began a 5-year employment as a dispatcher for Missoula County 9-1-1.

The family later relocated to the Houston area and Julie was hired as a dispatcher for The Woodlands Fire Department in The Woodlands, Texas, where she worked for the last 16 years of her life.
Julie is survived by her husband of over 30 years, Randy Turner; three sons: Ronnie Turner and fiancee Amanda of Spring, TX; FCSN Nick Turner, currently stationed at the US Naval base in Dahlgren, VA; and Kevin Turner at the home in Spring; one stepdaughter, Kristy Wright and husband Ray of Sealy, TX; Julie’s parents, Nick and Shirley Skok of Valley, WA; sister Janis Carper of Enterprise, OR; brother Steve Skok and wife Raylene of Bothell, WA; grandchildren Dustin and Nicole Turner, step-grandchildren Tyler, Summer, and Alexa; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A celebration of Julie’s life was held in Humble, Texas, and an additional memorial service and inurnment will be held at Jump Off Cemetery near Valley, Washington, at a later date.
