8 arrests for suspended license in Liberty Lake

The week of March 19-26 was not a time to be driving in Liberty Lake with a suspended license. Liberty Lake police officers made eight arrests during the week for that crime. Most of the drivers were nabbed after they were pulled over for a driving infraction such as speeding or illegal lane change.

One driver arrested for driving with a suspended license at Interstate 90 and Barker Road on March 24 also faces drug charges after he admitted having a marijuana pipe in his car, said Police Chief Brian Asmus. He was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A resident in the 700 block of North Garry Road reported to police on March 19 that a relative had taken several items and checks from his home and had forged several checks totaling more than $1,500. The case is under investigation, Asmus said.

Someone in the 1800 block of North Aladdin Road called police the afternoon of March 22 to report that he had spotted two people breaking into his car shortly after midnight. The two reportedly ran off when the man confronted them, Asmus said. The resident said they drove away in a green minivan and provided a license plate number to police. The case is under investigation, Asmus said.

A gasoline theft was reported in the 22300 block of East Appleway at 11 a.m. on March 23. An employee reported that someone pumped $40.82 in gas into a red Honda Civic and drove away without paying.

During the week officers handed out five citations for license and plates required, three for failure to show proof of liability insurance, two for defective muffler and nine for speeding. Additional citations were given for failure to yield right of way, use of a cellphone and fourth-degree assault.
