Several area players in Eastern Washington picked all-state

High school basketball players from eastern Washington were well-represented on the Associated Press all-state teams, which were released Thursday.

University junior Brett Bailey made the boys 3A first team.

Colfax junior Brandon Gfeller and Northwest Christian senior Kwinn Hanson were named the 2B co-players of the year. Gfeller and Hanson met in the State 2B title game earlier this month, with Gfeller’s Bulldogs coming out on top.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline senior Derek Isaak, who led the Warriors to the state championship, was named the 1B player of the year.

For the girls, Clarkston’s Jamie Weisner was selected the 2A player of the year, and Reardan’s Kelsey Moos was named the 2B player of the year.

Haley Moser of Colton earned 1B player of the year honors. Moser and Moos both led their teams to state championships.

Track and field

University of Idaho senior Andrew Blaser took ninth place in the decathlon at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.

Blaser had the meet’s second-fastest time in the 110-meter hurdles (14.40 seconds) and finished the decathlon with 7,035 points – eight shy of his career best.
