Deal Boise State standout Kellen Moore has agreed to a free-agent deal with Detroit, giving the Lions someone to develop behind starter Matthew Stafford and backup Shaun Hill. Athletes First spokeswoman Savannah Wall confirmed the agreement after Moore wasn’t picked in last week’s NFL draft. Moore won 50 games in college, a Football Bowl Subdivision record for a starting quarterback, but wasn’t among the 253 players taken in the draft.

Suspended The NBA announced that Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended one game without pay in the opening-round playoff series against the Hawks after sticking out his chest to bump referee Marc Davis while disputing a foul call with 41 seconds left in Boston’s Game 1 loss at Atlanta. The NBA’s assist leader scored 20 points and dished out 11 assists before he was tossed, leaving Boston with a huge hole in its lineup. Second-year player Avery Bradley will likely take over at the point.

Out The worst team in NBA history will have a new coach next season. The Charlotte Bobcats have decided not to renew coach Paul Silas’ contract after the team finished 7-59 this season for the worst winning percentage in league history (.106). Silas said he was promised a job in the organization by team owner Michael Jordan and said he’s retiring from coaching.

• Binghamton University has fired men’s basketball coach Mark Macon. Director of athletics Patrick Elliott made the announcement and said a national search would begin immediately. Macon concluded his fourth season at the school and compiled a 24-68 record in three seasons as head coach.

• The Tulsa Shock will be without leading scorer and rebounder Tiffany Jones for the upcoming WNBA season as she is expecting her first child. Jones averaged 12.4 points and 8.4 rebounds last season.

Replaced A person familiar with the talks says Virginia Tech has chosen James Johnson to replace Seth Greenberg as its men’s basketball coach. Johnson will replace his former boss after spending five years as an assistant to Greenberg. Greenberg was fired April 23 after nine seasons and one NCAA tournament appearance.

Leaving Maryland guard Terrell Stoglin has entered the NBA draft after receiving a one-year suspension from the school. Stoglin averaged 21.6 points per game as a sophomore last season, tops in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The 6-foot-1 standout started 27 of 29 games and received 42 starts over two seasons for the Terrapins. The school announced that Stoglin will be suspended due to a violation of the University of Maryland Student-Athlete Code of Conduct.
