89 Years of a
Wonderful Life

Jack, with family by his side, passed away at Hospice House on one of his favorite days of the year: opening fishing.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife Annie and his daughter Jacqueline (Lena).

He is survived by his five children: Marie Magers (Jim), triplets: Joan Roberson (Don), Jack Louie Jr. (Lori deceased) Judi Mustard (Darrel) and Jim Louie (Linda).

He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren that always brought a big smile to his face when he saw them.

He is also survived by his brother Sammy Louie (Eleanor) and their children who reside in California.
He came to the United States at the young age of 15 and worked as a houseboy in Bremerton.

He then went to work for his aunt and uncle at Tsue Chong Noodle Co. in Seattle.

In 1942 he moved to Spokane beginning his lifework in the restaurant business.

He worked as a cook at the Noodle Grill, one of the first Chinese restaurants in Spokane.

For a short period of time he ran a Chinese drive-in: the Ace Restaurant.

They served Chinese food in your car.

In 1963 he purchased Louie’s Restaurant on North Division.

Dad’s generosity was shown to his many lifelong friends with his gift of friendship and food.

After 24 years, always with Mom by his side, serving hundreds of customers and working countless hours, the day finally came for Dad and Mom to retire in 1987.
Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Until his illness he fished almost every day.

Jack would always deliver fish for his friends to enjoy.

He proudly displayed his numerous trophies on the walls of his house and he had a story attached to each one.

He loved to travel and visited the village where he was born in China many times.
He was very proud of his Chinese heritage.

He volunteered many hours assisting the Spokane Chinese Community and was a delegate to numerous conventions.
Currently he had been living at Pine Ridge Nursing Home.

We will forever be grateful to their staff for the compassion and caring they have given him these last few years.
Our family could not have completed this journey without Hospice by our side.

We express sincere gratitude to every person at Hospice House who welcomed us with open arms during his last difficult days.
Visitation will be Friday, May 4, from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.at the funeral home.

A celebration of Jack’s life will be held Saturday, May 5, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with a graveside service to follow at Riverside Memorial Park, 211 N. Government Way.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to Hospice House, PO Box 2215, Spokane WA 99210-2215.
