Obituary: Taylor, Mary Ellen

Age 66

TAYLOR,
Mary Ellen

Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother went to be with her Lord Jesus on May 1, 2012 after a brief illness.

She was born July 24, 1945 in Port Gamble, Washington to Floyd and Mae Dunbar.

She graduated from North Kitsap High School and attended Seattle University.

She and her husband, F. Lawrence Taylor, Jr., met at the first dance of their freshmen year at Seattle University.

It was love at first sight and they dated for four years and married two weeks after graduation.

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband of almost 45 years, Larry; and four children, Kathleen Folan and her husband Luis of San Francisco, John and his wife Becky of Spokane, Michael and his wife Heather of Duluth, MN, and Laura of Seattle.

She also leaves behind eleven grandchildren who were the joy of her life.

She loved raising her children, was a Girl Scout leader for several years, actively volunteered at her childrens’ schools (St. Mary’s and Gonzaga Prep), and attended Bible study for many years.

She loved to sew, sing, cook, travel the world (especially Hawaii), entertain friends and family, and read avidly.

Many sought her counsel and she had a great sense of humor.

Mary Ellen had so many friends who loved her, and she touched everyone she met, even strangers she only knew a few minutes.

She was filled with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, loved unconditionally as Christ did, and had the best hugs around.
A funeral Mass for Mary Ellen will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 304 S. Adams Rd., Spokane Valley, WA on Wednesday, May 9 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow, and then her interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetary, 17825 Trent Ave, Spokane Valley, WA.

A rosary will take place on Tuesday, May 8 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s.
