Age 96


GREENE, William Forster “Bill”

Bill, age 95, went to join his creator on May 2, 2012.

He was born May 7, 1916 in Spokane, Washington to Leon and Ellen Forster Greene.

He lived most of his life in Spokane, having attended Roosevelt Elementary School, Lewis & Clark High School and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Washington State University in 1938.

Following graduation, Mr. Greene worked as a reservations officer for Northwest Airlines, then as an Air Traffic Controller at the Billings, Montana Airport.

At the advent of World War II, Mr. Greene took a voluntary assignment as an Air Controller in Brazil, teaching the Brazilians traffic control procedures.

Upon returning to the states, he joined his father, Leon G. Greene, in a general insurance agency, where he remained for 23 years.

Mr. Greene later established his business as a manufacturer’s representative for gift items.

In 2008, he moved to Panorama Retirement Community in Lacey, WA, where he enjoyed a very happy and active life contributing much to the community.



His wife of 60 years, Alice Mae (Robinson) Greene, preceded him in death in 2000.

Survivors include a son James D. Greene of Helena, Montana; a daughter, Laurel E. Shelton, of Seattle; five granddaughters and five great grandchildren.

He was dearly loved by family and many friends and leaves us all with wonderful memories.

Memorial Services to be held Thursday, May 10, 2012 11:00 am in the Gathering Room at the Chinook residential Facility in Panorama City, Lacey, WA 98503.
