In brief: Motorcyclist dies in Sunday crash

The victim in a fatal motorcycle accident on state Highway 291 in Stevens County on Sunday has been identified by the Washington State Patrol as Daniel J. Romaneschi, 56, of Spokane.

The accident, which occurred about 14 miles north of Spokane, was reported shortly after noon. Investigators believe Romaneschi was speeding and failed to negotiate a curve, according to a WSP press release.

Body found in lake in Stevens County

A body was found in Long Lake in Stevens County Sunday afternoon. The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office responded to recover the body and conduct an investigation.

No further details were available before Sunday’s deadline.

Two hurt in rollover east of Priest River

Two people were injured in a late-night accident Saturday on U.S. Route 2 east of Priest River. The Idaho State Patrol reported that a 2001 GMC Yukon was heading west near milepost 9 when the driver struck an embankment. The Yukon rolled several times.

The driver, identified as 62-year-old Marilyn J. Mandigo, of Oldtown, Idaho, and a juvenile male passenger sustained injuries and were both taken to Bonner General Hospital.

Two hurt in wreck west of Colfax

An injury accident occurred on state Highway 26 west of Colfax around 9 a.m. Sunday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A 1998 Toyota Corolla driven by Erica Moreno, 20, of Yakima, was heading north on Airport Road and making a left turn onto the highway. A 2006 Chevy Tahoe pulling a trailer was going east on the highway and the two vehicles collided, according to the press release. The driver of the Tahoe, identified as Robert H. Squires, 55, of Hood River, Ore., was not injured.

Moreno was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center. A passenger in Moreno’s car, Ernesto F. Lopez, 22, of Yakima, was injured and taken to Colfax Hospital.
