Portland up 2-1 in finals

PORTLAND – Ty Rattie returned from injury and scored his league-leading 18th playoff goal to spark the Portland Winterhawks to a 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings on Sunday in Game 3 of the Western Hockey League’s final.

Portland has won consecutive games to take a 2-1 series lead.

Sven Baertschi had a goal and an assist for the Winterhawks, while Brendan Leipsic and Oliver Gabriel also scored.

Henrik Samuelsson, Martin Gernat and Keegan Lowe supplied the offense for the Oil Kings.

Rattie sat out Game 2 after a check by Edmonton’s Mitchell Moroz in Game 1 left him with a head injury that the Winterhawks have said is not a concussion.

The Winterhawks led 3-0 through two periods.
