Cheney claims district title

Forester Seipp scored two second-half goals and the Cheney boys soccer team beat Pullman 2-0 in the District 7 2A title game Wednesday at Gonzaga Prep.

Seipp’s first goal came in the 46th minute, and he capped the scoring with his second six minutes later.

The win gives the Blackhawks (17-0) the top seed to regionals. Pullman (11-5) is the second seed.

West Valley 2, East Valley 1: The Eagles (10-8) claimed the third and final seed to regionals with a win over the Knights (8-5) at Gonzaga Prep.

East Valley’s season has concluded.

Girls tennis

No. 1 Leslie Ho of Central Valley swept her semifinal match at the 4A district tournament at Gonzaga Prep and will play Mead’s Chelsea Motzer in today’s final.

• No. 1 Sarah Letsch, of Shadle Park, and No. 2 Sena Burchak, of University, won their semifinal matches at the 3A district tournament at University and will play each other in the final.

Boys tennis

Top-seeded Alex Marcinkowski of Gonzaga Prep eased to a 6-0, 6-1 win over Daniel Shepperd – a Bullpup teammate – at the 4A district singles tournament at Gonzaga Prep.

Marcinkowski will meet No. 2 Tom Geranios of Ferris in today’s final. Geranios beat Saxons teammate Trevor Fennessy 6-2, 6-0.

• Mt. Spokane’s Connor Larkin won his semifinal match against Shadle Park’s Isaac Ko at the 3A district singles tournament at University and will play in today’s finale. The top-seeded Larkin will play teammate and No. 2 seed Caleb Deibel.

Golf

Teado Hulstrom, Dain Harden and Justin Margason all shot rounds in the 70s and Kellogg dominated its competition at the 3A District I-II boys tournament at St. Maries Golf Course.

Hulstrom’s 2-over 72 earned him medalist honors. Harden was second with a 75 and Margason shot a 79, good for fourth.

• Kaceelyn Pouttu shot an 82 and the Kellogg girls cruised to the 3A District I-II tournament title at St. Maries Golf Course.

• Freeman’s Alyssa Maine shot a two-round total of 152 and took first place at the Northeast A League regional qualifier at StoneRidge GC in Blanchard, Idaho. Lakeside’s Ryan Newcomb won the boys event with a two-round total of 153. Colville won the girls team title. Lakeside won the boys.
