Waterfront home dwellers to plead guilty to welfare theft

SEATTLE – Lawyers for a Seattle couple who drew welfare benefits while living in a million-dollar waterfront home say they will plead guilty next Wednesday in federal court.

The lawyer for chiropractor David Mark Silverstein said he’ll pay back more money than prosecutors say they received in assistance, seattlepi.com reported.

The two were charged Tuesday with felony theft of government funds. They are accused of embezzling more than $115,000 in benefits from 2003 to 2011 from the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
