Guthrie scores ace at NCAAs

College golf: Whitworth junior Emily Guthrie made a hole-in-one on the 135-yard, par-3 sixth hole during third-round play Thursday at the Division III women’s golf Championships at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Ind.

Guthrie’s ace was the third hole-in-one at the championships since 2009 and was the first of her college career.

Guthrie shot a 79 in the third round and is tied for 19th at 19-over 235. She is 10 strokes off the lead with one round to play.

Pryor: Money paid family’s bills

College football: Former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor says he sold a pair of his football pants for $3,000 to help his family pay rent and heating bills.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Pryor says he broke NCAA rules by selling the items so his sister and mother wouldn’t be cold but the NCAA “didn’t have any sympathy.”

Pryor is banned from contact with the OSU program for five years.

The NCAA also looked into sweetheart deals on cars and his role in other players getting in trouble for rules violations, including payments from a booster.
