Leinart the teacher

Matt Leinart has gone from being Carson Palmer’s protege at Southern California to his teacher with the Oakland Raiders a decade later. Leinart (pictured) signed with Oakland this month to back up his former college teammate and pass on tips based on his knowledge of the Raiders’ new intricate offense. Leinart spent the past two seasons in Houston, where new Oakland offensive coordinator Greg Knapp was his quarterbacks coach. “It just made perfect sense for me to come here and help out these guys with this offense because this is a brand new offense for almost everyone on the offensive side,” Leinart said. “It was a no-brainer, a great opportunity for me to come in here and help in any way I can.” – Associated Press
