Kellogg’s Pouttu wins third straight state crown

Kellogg junior Kaceelyn Pouttu won her third consecutive state title, winning by 26 strokes at the Idaho 3A tournament at Preston Golf Course on Tuesday.

Pouttu shot a 72 on Monday and a 73 on Tuesday for a 145, easily good enough to beat second-place finisher Evanann Woodcock of Weiser’s 171.

Pouttu won by 25 shots last year and nine strokes in 2010.

Kellogg’s Jessi Gibbons shot 174 to finish third, and the Wildcats finished second as a team at 759, four strokes behind Weiser.

For the boys, Kellogg’s Dain Harden shot a 150 to finish eighth and the Wildcats finished second at 635. Marsh Valley won at 627.

5A: Amy Hasenoehrl of Lewiston won the girls state title and led the Bengals to the team title at Pinecrest Golf Course in Idaho Falls.

Hasenoehrl’s shot a 72 for a 145 total and a two-stroke victory. Lewiston finished at 665 as a team, five shots ahead of second-place Rocky Mountain.

Coeur d’Alene shot 797 as a team and finished seventh, with Jordan Hintz’s 183 leading the way for the Vikings.

For the boys, Coeur d’Alene’s Stephen Roller finished fifth and teammate Michael Porter finished eighth, leading the Vikings to a second-place finish.

Roller shot a 143 and Porter shot 145. Chris Carew of Eagle was the champion at 139.

Eagle also won the team title at 578, just ahead of Coeur d’Alene’s 586.

Post Falls finished eighth at 635.

Trevor Fedele was the top finisher for the Trojans at 155.

4A: Moscow’s Kati Greear and Taylor Anderson finished one-two at Blackfoot Golf Course and the Bears finished third in the team competition, missing out on a third straight title.

Greear shot a 76 for a total of 157, with Anderson right behind at 160 after firing an 81 on Tuesday.

Moscow shot 734 as a team; Bishop Kelly won the title at 684.

For the boys, Moscow finished in eighth place at Blackfoot Golf Course, shooting a 632.

Twin Falls won the title at 579. Cooper Wright’s 151 was the top score for the Bears.

2A: Wallace’s Kenzie Dire finished second and the Miners finished third as a team at Highland Golf Course.

Dire shot a 92 and finished at 186, 14 strokes behind winner Jacqueline Gibby of Declo. Wallace shot a team score of 895, 102 behind Declo.

For the boys, Lakeside (Plummer) finished in seventh place at Highland Golf Course in Pocatello, with Kris Sneve leading the way for the Knights with a 190 and Jordan Nilson right behind at 191.

Tristan Coles of Ririe won with a 148. Lakeside shot 795 as a team, 113 strokes behind champion Castleford.
