Obituary: Dinsmore, Jean Driscoll

DINSMORE, Jean Driscoll
(Age 93)

Passed away peacefully May 12, 2012.

Jean was born at home on the family farm on Driscoll Ridge, near Troy, Idaho, to Walter and Jennie Driscoll, December 30, 1918.

She attended the local country grade school and graduated from Troy High School in 1935.

Jean graduated from the University of Idaho in 1939 and was a member of Gamma Phi Beta sorority.
After college, Jean taught Business Education in Ferdinand, Idaho, for one year.

In 1940 she married Clyde Dinsmore of Troy.

They moved frequently during World War II, finally settling in Troy, Idaho.

While living in Troy, they became the parents of two children, Jim and Sandy.

In 1953 the family permanently moved to Spokane.

Jean worked at Hollister-Stier laboratories as an accountant for several years and then attended Gonzaga University to attain her elementary teaching degree.

She spent many years teaching fourth grade at Arlington Elementary School.

She was especially proud of her “fourth graders” and of being a member of Alpha Delta Kappa, a teaching honorary.

She was honored to be one of the grandmothers featured in the book How To Sew A Button by Erin Bried.
Jean was preceded in death by her three siblings, Maxine, Jim and Joe, and her husband of 49 years, Clyde Dinsmore.

She is survived by her son Jim (Kay Lou) Dinsmore, Spokane, and her daughter Sandy (Bruce) Colquhoun, Spokane.

She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Tim (Kim) Dinsmore of Virginia Beach, VA, Andrea (Don) Wilson of Highlands Ranch, CO, Susan (Ben) Cornett of Boise, ID, Caitlin (Michael) Hocklander of Boise, ID, Amy Colquhoun of Oklahoma City, OK, and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday Noon-8PM at Heritage and a Mass of Christian Burial 10AM, Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Assumption Parish, 3624 W. Indian Trail Rd.

with Graveside Service at 2:30PM at Moscow, ID Cemetery.
