In brief: Meals on Wheels holding rummage sale

SPOKANE VALLEY – Spokane Valley Meals on Wheels will hold its eighth annual rummage sale today through Saturday at the Opportunity Center, 12103 E. Sprague Ave.

Sale times are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. today; 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday; and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. Items will be half-price on Saturday.

Proceeds from the rummage sale will help pay for the offset cost of meals for the program.

Yellowstone wolves subject of free movie

SPOKANE VALLEY – Local residents are welcome to visit the CenterPlace Auditorium, 2426 N. Discovery Place, on Tuesday at 2 p.m. to see the free movie, “Lords of Nature.”

The featured film is about the return of wolves to Yellowstone Park and the Northern Rocky Mountains. After the movie, Yukon bush pilot and author/publisher Larry Whitesitt will share information about the wolves’ return to Washington state. The discussion will also include information about the Wolf Conservation and Management Plan.

Fundraisers to aid NW Honor Flight

POST FALLS/NEVADA/ LIDGERWOOD – The Royal Plaza Retirement Center, 302 E. Wedgewood Ave., will have a series of fundraisers for Inland Northwest Honor Flight, beginning today at the American Legion, 1138 E. Poleline Ave. in Post Falls, from 4 to 7 p.m.

To help send Inland Northwest war veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit the war memorials, community members can bring broken or outdated gold jewelry or watches, scrap gold, dental gold, silver and platinum and representatives from The Gold Refinery will test and weigh it. Tenpercent of the proceeds from the gold purchased will be donated to the Honor Flight program.

Other fundraiser locations and times are Friday at the Eagles Lodge, 6410 N. Lidgerwood St., from 1 to 4 p.m. and Saturday at the Golden Spike Estates Clubhouse, 8580 W. Yosemite St. in Rathdrum, Idaho, from 1 to 3 p.m. and the Eagles Lodge, 209 E. Sherman Ave., in Coeur d’Alene, from 4 to 7 p.m.
