Church events: Weekend offers music, retreat, sales, more

First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 N. Country Homes Blvd., will host a free evening of music Sunday at 6 p.m.

The church’s 35-voice choir will perform, along with Ken and Carol Fuller, who will play the Wurlitzer organ and grand piano. The praise team and worship band will also perform.

Spiritual retreat

St. Joseph’s Family Center, 1016 N. Superior St., will present a retreat, “Mary, a Woman of Substance,” Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sister Patricia Novak will facilitate a day of prayer and a presentation of Mary.

The cost to attend is $25 and includes lunch.

Celtic service

St. David’s Episcopal Church, 7315 N. Wall St., will present “Blessing the Ground in our Lives,” a Celtic Communion service, today at 7 p.m.

The service will include a celebration of spring planting, an outside procession and a blessing of the four corners of the church property.

The prayers can also be used for home gardens, lawns and yards.

There will be Celtic prayers and readings, chants and music.

A potluck reception will follow the service.

Volunteer opportunity

Catholic Charities Spokane, 12 E. Fifth Ave., will host a volunteer information session Tuesday from 10 to 11:15 a.m.

Programs under the Catholic Charities umbrella include Bernadette Place, Catholic Campaign for Human Development, Catholic Relief Services, Childbirth and Parenting Alone, Christmas Bureau, counseling, House of Charity, Parish Social Ministry, Refugee and Immigration Services, regional offices, Respect Life, St. Anne’s Children and Family Center, St. Margaret’s Shelter, and senior and family housing and senior services.

The session will include tours of the facility.

Rummage and yard sales

Moran United Methodist Church, 3601 E. 65th Ave., will present a yard sale Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Items for sale include kitchen goods, antiques and home décor. Proceeds will benefit the church’s teen mission trip to Alaska.
