Assault victim dies of injuries

Man had been shot; police seeking leads

A man found assaulted in Spokane Valley on Sunday has died, and investigators are asking for help finding his killer.

Warren Scott Flinn, 44, died Wednesday at a local hospital after deputies found him injured in the 300 block of North Lake Road while responding to a report of a possible trespassing, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office. The area is just east of Fancher Road and north of Sprague Avenue.

Medics checked Flinn and found he had been shot, sheriff’s spokesman Craig Chamberlin said Thursday.

Investigators believe Flinn was a transient, but court records show he lived at an address on South Audubon Street until as early as September. He also spent time in Florida and California, where he had felony convictions for burglary.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy Thursday.

Anyone who spoke to Flinn or spent time with him recently is asked to call Detective Kirk Keyser at (509) 477-6611.

Anonymous tips can be submitted online at the Sheriff’s Office website.
