PHILLIPY, Ruby Ellen

Phillipy, Ruby Ellen (96) peacefully passed away into the arms of her Lord and Savior on May 11, 2012.

Ruby was born August 3, 1915 in Fort Shaw Montana to parents William and Ora Graham.

Ruby was predeceased in death by her husband of 59 years Roy Phillipy.

Surviving Ruby is her Stepson Marcus W. (Bonnie) Phillipy Spokane, Lawrence E. (Lynn) Phillipy Spokane, David A.

(Carol) Phillipy Nashville, TN, Keith L. (Nancy) Phillipy Spokane, 15 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Ruby was a lifelong resident of Spokane and a 1933 graduate of North Central High School.

Ruby was also a former employee of the Crescent Department Store during the 1950’s and 60’s.

Ruby had Memberships in Millwood Community Presbyterian Church and Fourth Memorial Church, and organizations of White Rose chapter #230, Order of Eastern Star Life Member, Poetry Scribes Past President and Lilac Poet in 1973.

During Ruby’s retirement years she developed and pursued her passion of writing poetry.

During those years she wrote and published a book of original poetry “Rainbow Gold” which was also transcribed into Braille.

A majority of Ruby’s writings included the topics of family and of nature which she truly loved.

Numerous other works in both poetry and prose were printed in publications such as Ideals, Sunshine Magazine, etc.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 20, 2012 from Noon to 5:00 P.M. Memorial Service for Ruby will held at Ball and Dodd 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 21, 2012 followed with Family Graveside Service and Interment at Spokane Memorial Gardens.

Memorials suggested are Eastern Star Training Awards for Religious Leadership, in care of White Rose Eastern Star Chapter #230 c/o J. Paul Fitzsimmons, P.O.
