Spokane resident battles home invaders with sword

Associated Press
SPOKANE — Police say a resident of a north Spokane home drove off four home invaders with a decorative sword, giving one a slash wound. The home invasion was reported about 3 a.m. today in the Indian Trail area where four people were in the house — two men, a woman and a child. The incident occurred near near Woodridge Drive and Alpine Drive, across from Woodridge Elementary School, KHQ reported. Police told KHQ one of the occupants recognized at least one of the four suspects and allowed them to enter. Once inside, one pulled a pistol and bound two of the occupants with zip ties. One got lose, grabbed the sword and forced the intruders to flee. One occupant was beaten badly and taken to a hospital. Police say they found drugs in the house.
