Obituary: King, Florence

KING,
Florence

Florence Jeanette King passed away Monday, May 21, 2012 in Spokane, Washington due to natural causes.

She was born on July 5, 1929 in Remsen, Iowa to parents Mary and Anton Kosse.

On December 3, 1949 she wed her husband, Alfred King and together they retired in Medical Lake, Washington.
Florence, Flo, Mom, Mother, Grandma, granny; regardless of what nickname she went by, she was known as a strong woman who loved her kids, her family, and her religion.

She was a devout Catholic who said her prayers and rosary daily, and was very involved with her church.

She participated in fundraisers, played a big role in having the Hall at St. Anne Catholic Church built, and was an active member of the Altar Society.
A true matriarch of her family, she loved to have her children and grandchildren close by.

She enjoyed family holidays when everyone would gather to enjoy her meals and each other.

Whether it was making a particular food item, playing cards, watching ball games, cooking, baking, playing bingo, scratching lotto tickets, praying, or going to church there was always that “something” meant for that “someone”.

She is survived by her six children: Jean (Art), Jim (Peggy), John (Karin), Jerry (Christy), Janet (Carl), and Jeff (Lynette), 12 grand- children, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Florence is predeceased by her husband Alfred P. King, and 10 siblings.
Thank you to all those who sent cards, visited, and brought Eucharist to her weekly.

Thank you to the Hospice house for helping to make her last days peaceful and for providing excellent care so that her children could be there just to love her.
A funeral service will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Medical Lake, Washington on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 9:30am.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to either Catholic Charities or Hospice of Spokane.
