Bouts to remember

The UFC is going big in its Memorial Day weekend show. Five heavyweight fights headline UFC 146 in Las Vegas, highlighted by Junior Dos Santos’ first title defense against two-time champion Frank Mir. UFC president Dana White touts more than 2,400 pounds of heavyweight fighters on the pay-per-view card, including former champion Cain Velasquez against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva and Roy Nelson meeting Dave Herman. A card stacked with heavyweights is a first for mixed martial arts’ dominant promotion, but all five matchups have changed since the fights were originally announced. For one, Dos Santos (pictured right) initially was slated to defend his belt against Dutch kickboxer Alistair Overeem, who failed a drug test. – AP
