Obituary: Strandy, Marlene

STRANDY, Marlene

Marlene (Reber) Strandy passed away at Northridge Care Center into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 21, 2012, after a long battle with Alzheimer Disease.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Strandy, her parents Daniel and Bessie Reber, her brothers Dale and Gary Reber and her great-grandson Tanner Davis.

Marlene was born on July 5, 1933 in Glascow, Montana.

At an early age, her parents moved the family to the Sandpoint area where she grew up on their farm.

She married her husband of 58 years on July 6, 1950.
Marlene is survived by her daughter Vickie Scholl (and husband Frank), son Jim (and wife Cheryl) and son Dan (and wife Karen), seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, as well as two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Our Mom dearly loved her family and thoroughly enjoyed all family activities and adventures.

She was a talented seamstress who created all kinds of clothing, dolls, stuffed animals and quilts.

She also enjoyed many other hobbies and craft activities that gave her joy and which she shared with family and friends.

She loved to golf and became quite good at it much to the chagrin of our father.

When Mom and Dad retired, they enjoyed spending the winter months in California and also enjoyed traveling throughout the country and going on cruises.

We will miss our Mom and her warm and welcoming smile!

You are invited to celebrate Marlene’s life on Saturday, June 2 at 11am at Foothills Community Church, 11102 N. Forker Rd.

In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to the Alzheimer Association.

Marlene’s family would like to thank the wonderful and caring staff at Northridge Care Center!
