In brief: Register for TAC summer camps

SPOKANE VALLEY – Registration is now open for Theater Arts for Children’s summer camps, beginning June 25. The camps will take place at the theater, 2114 N. Pines Road, Suite 3S.

Classes are:

• Music Revue – for ages 7-12. June 25-29, 9 a.m.-noon. Campers will rehearse songs from musical productions and perform a revue at the end of the week.

• Let’s Dance – for ages 7-12. July 16-20, 9 a.m.-noon. Campers will learn some of the basic dance steps commonly used in theater and will take part in a showcase performance at the end of the week.

Cost for Music Revue and Let’s Dance is $65 for the first child and $100 maximum per family.

• Behind the Scenes – open to all ages. Aug. 13-17, 6-8 p.m. Campers will learn what it takes to put on a play, other than rehearsing and memorizing lines. Participants will have a hands-on experience with set construction, props, makeup and costuming. Behind the Scenes is $25 per person.

Golf benefit for artist Wisben

POST FALLS – The Links Golf Course, 10623 N. Chase Road, will host a nine-hole benefit golf tournament for Charlie Wisben, a local artist, painter and decorator who has been diagnosed with cancer, on Saturday. The event will begin at 4 p.m. with a shotgun start.

The fundraiser will include a putting contest, a silent auction, live music and food.

Walk will cross 17 downtown bridges

RIVERSIDE – The 2012 Bridge Walk will be Saturday, with an open start from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Veterans Court at the corner of Post Street and Bridge Avenue.

The 4 ½-mile loop will cross 17 bridges in downtown Spokane.

IEL offers fitness classes for seniors

SPOKANE COUNTY – Local seniors will have an opportunity to stay fit and have fun at the Institute for Extended Learning Seniors Get Your Groove On program.

Classes include Gentle Exercise, Yoga and Tai Chi.
