Tekoa-Oakesdale, Colton qualify for state volleyball

COLFAX –Top seeds Tekoa-Oakesdale and Colton earned state berths Wednesday with semifinal victories in the District 9 1B high school volleyball tournament.

No. 1 seed Tekoa-Oakesdale defeated Garfield-Palouse 26-24, 25-12, 27-25. No. 2 seed Colton beat St. John-Endicott 25-20, 25-16, 25-20.

In earlier matches, SJE defeated Liberty Christian 25-16, 20-25, 25-23, 25-23 and Gar-Pal topped Pomeroy 25-14, 25-22, 25-22 to earn semifinal berths.

T-O and Colton square off for state seeding at 5 p.m. Saturday at Colfax High. The Nighthawks are ranked No. 1 in state and the Wildcats No. 4.

Pomeroy faces SJE at 2 p.m. and Liberty Christian meets Gar-Pal at 3:30 in loser-out games Saturday. Winners of those matches meet at 6:30 for the No. 3 berth to state.

Jenna Moser had 13 kills, eight digs and two blocks for Colton. Kaden Damon had 17 assists and four aces and Kaitline Druffel had 13 digs.
