Colville upsets Pullman in GNL football

Journy Young rushed for 166 yards on 26 carries with two touchdowns and added a 44-yard TD catch from Ben Knight to guide the Colville Indians to a 26-20 upset over the Pullman Greyhounds in a Great Northern League regular-season finale Thursday night in Colville.

The loss dropped the Greyhounds (6-3, 4-2) into a four-way tie for first place with the East Valley Knights (7-2, 4-2), West Valley Eagles (6-3, 4-2) and the Cheney Blackhawks (6-4, 4-2). But the Greyhounds and Blackhawks advance to state by virtue of their 2-1 records in games among the four teams. Pullman earns the league’s top seed because it beat Cheney in the regular season.

Justin Cillay’s 2-yard run and two-point conversion run pulled Pullman within six points, but the Indians recovered the Greyhounds’ onside kick attempt and ran out the clock.

Young had touchdown runs of 30 yards in the second quarter and 19 yards in the fourth for Colville.
