CV to honor veterans with free concert

Central Valley High School, 821 S. Sullivan Road, will present a Veterans Day concert Thursday at 7 p.m.

The free concert will feature the school’s a cappella choir, chamber orchestra and wind ensemble.

Donations will be accepted for the Wounded Warrior Project and there will be a raffle.

St. John Vianney school auction

St. John Vianney Catholic School’s 26th annual auction will be Friday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 322 N. Spokane Falls Court, at 5:30 p.m.

The auction is the school’s largest fundraiser of the year and benefits more than 200 students who attend the school.

The evening includes dinner, silent and live auctions and dancing.

The cost to attend is $45 per person.

WV foundation fundraiser

The West Valley Education Foundation will host a wine tasting and auction, Taste the Spirit, today at CenterPlace at Mirabeau Point, 2426 N. Discovery Place.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and attendees can taste wines from Barrister, Arbor Crest, Whitestone, Liberty Lake Cellars, Grande Ronde and Robert Karl Cellars.

Beer will also be available.

Tickets are $35 and are available at the door.

WV Eagle marching band

West Valley High School has wrapped up its marching band season and has announced the awards it won this year.

At the Sounds of Thunder competition at Joe Albi Stadium, the band took fourth place and best color guard in their class.

They took second place in their class and best drum major at the Harvest Festival of Bands in Yakima.

Last weekend at the Puget Sound Festival of Bands in Everett, the band took second place in their class and best color guard.
