Learn about Bible basics Wednesday

The Rev. Adam Bartholomew will lead a discussion group on Bible basics beginning Wednesday at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 15319 E. Eighth Ave.

The two session class, which will also meet on Nov. 14, will begin at 6:15 p.m. The class will look at questions people may have about the Bible, including why the Bible has footnotes and why the Bible books aren’t in alphabetical order. There will also be a potluck meal each evening.

Harvest dinner

Spokane Valley United Methodist Church, 115 N. Raymond Road, will host a harvest dinner next Saturday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3 to 10. Children younger than 3 will be admitted free.

Parent night out

Opportunity Presbyterian Church will host a Parent Night Out on Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Parents may drop off their children for an evening of activities while they go out for anything from a date night to a little early Christmas shopping. The cost is $5 per child with a limit of $20 per family.

Power of prayer

Mark Swinney, a practitioner of Christian Science healing, will speak on “The Healing Effect of Your Prayers” at 11 a.m. next Saturday at the Quality Inn Valley Suites, 8923 E. Mission Ave.

Swinney is a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship and has written numerous articles on prayer and healing. The lecture is free. Call (509) 624-1637 for more information.
