HOLMAN, Dennis Richard
(Age 73)

Passed peacefully from this earth surrounded by his family on October 20th, 2012 in Spokane, WA.
Dennis was born on April 16th 1939 to Yvonne Margaret (Dennis) Holman and Richard Allen Holman in Sacramento, CA.

He grew up in Pasadena CA and attended Pasadena High School, graduating in 1958.

He attended college at the University of Arizona and received a B.S.

in economics with a minor in geology in 1962.

After college he entered the U.S. Navy O.C.S.

in Newport, R.I. but was honorably discharged a short time later due to family medical reasons.
Dennis married Carol Ann Schaefer on April, 30th 1965 and together they had two children, a son and daughter.

In 1975 after leaving a position with J.P. Stevens Textile Co. in Los Angeles, CA , his love of the Pacific N.W.

brought Dennis and his family to Port Angeles, WA where he worked in real estate and banking on the Olympic Peninsula for over 30 years.
Dennis was passionate about nature, belonging to the Audubon Society and his love of geology lead him to the world of gold and silver mining.
After retiring from real estate in 2007, he moved to Spokane, WA and began working with the developmentally disabled through various organizations and was on the board of directors at Center Pointe.

He was very active in volunteering with the Special Olympics, Hoopfest , the Lilac Parade and Bloomsday.
Dennis is survived by his son, Kevin B. Holman and family, Jill, Blair, Brooklyn and Brynne of Hood River, OR and daughter, Leslie D. (Holman) DePue and family, Jared, Aidan and Gavin of Spokane, WA.
He will be forever remembered in our hearts and greatly missed.

A family gathering will take place to remember and honor Dennis on Sunday, November 18th, 2012.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Sandy Townsend and staff at Whitworth AFH and Briarcliff AFH for the wonderful care, dedication and love in the last months of his life and to the caring staff at Horizon Hospice who provided peace and comfort to Dennis and his family during his last days.
