Obituary: Tobey, Hilda Dahlen

Hilda Dahlen
(Age 90)

Passed away at Hospice House September 18, 2012.
Hilda was born in Enchant, Alberta September 3, 1923 to Hans and Hilda Dahlen.

She was the youngest of six children.

The family moved to Spokane when she was six months old.
Hilda went to school at Grant Elementary and Lewis & Clark High.

She married Charles Tobey December 10, 1941.

He went to sea with the U.S. Navy and she packed parachutes to aid the war effort.
Hilda worked for many years at the Montgomery Ward catalog store on East Trent, then went back to school and became a Licensed Practical Nurse, completing her internship in 1969.

She then worked several years at Lakeland Village and later cared for people in their homes.
Hilda was very proud of her Norwegian heritage, and in 1996 fulfilled a lifelong dream by traveling to Norway with her niece, Joan Harris.
She was preceded in death by her husband and her five siblings: Ed, Paul, Ruth, Arnie and Esther.

She is survived by her two sons, Michael Tobey of Spokane and Walter Tobey of Redmond, WA, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
No services will be held.
