VANDERVERT, Maggi

Maggi was born on Sunday, June 10, 1934, in a 1932 Willys Knight automobile on the way to the hospital in Wenatchee, WA.

She grew up in Chelan, WA, and graduated from Chelan High School in 1952.

From there she went on to nursing school at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tacoma, WA and graduated in 1956 as a registered nurse.

She married Jim CC Vandervert on June 24, 1960 in Las Vegas, NV.

She worked in maternity and emergency care for years until she found her calling caring for the elderly.

For 10 years, Maggi and her husband Jim cared for the elderly in their own home and she continued her nursing career for 56 years, most recently at Rockwood at Hawthorne, when she retired in August 2012.

She was a church member at St. Thomas More Catholic Church for many years.

Maggi was a devoted wife, married for 51 years, and loving mother who loved traveling, gardening, and animals.

She had an artistic talent which led to her love of beading and crochet.

Maggi is survived by her husband, Jim CC Vandervert; her daughters Lisa (Dave) Keetch and Lori (Dan) Kamerer; son James A.

(Julie) Vandervert; and her brother, Edward ‘Bud’ Duhamel; six grandchildren, Matt (Stephani) Keetch, Trevor (Alison) Keetch, Zachary Keetch, Justin Kamerer, Jaren Kamerer, and Jasper Kamerer; and several nieces and nephews.

Maggi is preceded in death by both parents, Alphonse and Mayme Duhamel; her brother, Jim and sister, Tess; and two newborn children, Steven and Evelyn.

Maggi passed away on October 30, 2012 in Spokane.

A Vigil Service will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.
