The nighttime gym class for working girls proved to be a big hit in the Lewis and Clark High School gymnasium.

About 50 girls from the downtown department stores and telephone buildings showed up in their bloomers and spent two hours lifting dumbbells, chasing medicine balls and taking lessons in running.

More strenuous games were planned for upcoming sessions.

Women spectators were encouraged to attend. Men were not.

From the accident beat: A grown daughter accidentally shot her mother in the hips at a homestead in the Elk River district outside of Moscow, Idaho.

Details of the shooting were unavailable, but the story noted that the mother, described as “a fleshy woman,” had to be carried three miles on a stretcher to a hospital. She later died. The daughter was under medical care for shock.

From the Halloween beat: The Pomeroy City marshal went to the Pomeroy school, pointed out a collection of miscreants, and put them to work repairing all of the damage they had done on Halloween.

They spent the day replacing gates, repairing vehicles and “returning things they had borrowed.”
