Police investigating attempted arson in West Central

By The Spokesman-Review

A West Central neighborhood home was the target of an attempted arson on Monday morning.

Spokane Police spokeswoman Jennifer DeRuwe says a flaming rag was thrown through the window of a home in the 1800 block of west Gardner around 6:20 a.m.

Fire crews responded, but identified the fire as arson and handed the investigation over to police and federal investigators who are investigating the fire as a possible hate crime.

Nobody was injured at the home during the attempt.
