Temperatures to plunge by Friday

The coldest weather of the season is expected to descend on the Inland Northwest by this weekend with lows going to the lower 20s or even upper teens. This will follow more than a week of mild, wet weather where temperatures have been as much as 10 degrees above normal. Sunday’s high was 57 at Spokane International Airport, which was 10 degrees above normal. The National Weather Service said that even milder temperatures are likely today and Tuesday with highs in the lower and middle 60s. The record high for today is 64. A pair of cold fronts will erode the milld air and set up a northerly flow. The first of the fronts is expected Tuesday night with another front on Thursday. Snow could fall to the south of Spokane in southeast Washington and the central Idaho Panhandle. Highs should drop to the middle and upper 30s with lows going to near 20 degrees on Friday and Saturday nights. Some areas could see lows in the upper teens.
