Spokane County elections worker Ralph Gruss grabs another tray of ballots to be put through counting machines at the elections office on Monday.

Ballot envelopes are quickly sorted Monday by a machine that photographs the signature and separates them by legislative districts. Ballots that have arrived by mail or from drop boxes are being counted by a very busy elections office. The totals will be tabulated Tuesday night and released around 8:20 p.m.
