Mary was born January 4, 1939 in Whitefish, Montana to Joseph and Dorothy Vanhook.
She passed away peacefully on November 2, 2012 at her home.
Mary grew up in Spokane.
She worked for many years as a bookkeeper and grocery store cashier and made lifetime friends of customers and coworkers.
Mary worked hard as a single mother to her four children for many years.
She married Bob Glaspie in 1976 and he and his daughters joined the family.
She enjoyed traveling and creating craft projects for friends and family.
She perfected the art of plastic canvas crafts.
Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.
Her grandkids will carry the memory of games with grandma forever.
Mary had a wonderful, adventurous spirit and was known to break into a little dance when a great song came on - no matter where she was or which family member she would embarrass.
Her stories will make for great memories for many years to come.
She is greatly missed, and will be forever.
Mary was a member of the Red Hat Society.
She spent the last several years volunteering as bookkeeper and treasurer at the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop.
She loved her work and made great friends in the shop.
Mary is survived by her children: Monty (Dusty) and Liz Niles, Cheryl and Jim Trewin, Terri and Don LeFors, and Robert Niles.
She is also survived by grandchildren Sara, Dustin, Nicholas, Timothy, Brandon, Christopher, Morgan; great-grandchildren Jillian, Maegen, Henry, Jonathon, Aria, Sophia and Jameson, as well as her faithful and loving dog, Mickey.
Mary is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law Jerry and Lorrie Vanhook, Don and Jeanne Vanhook.
Thank you, Uncle Jerry, for your love and tireless support throughout mom’s illness.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.
