Richard B. Hamm passed away peacefully in Spokane on November 3, 2012.

He was 84.



Richard joined the US Navy in 1944 and served for 21 years.

He was a veteran of both WWII and the Korean War.

While on shore duty in Oppama, Japan, he met Michiko Obana and they married in 1957.

He returned to the United States with her in 1959.

After retiring from the Navy, he worked as an airplane mechanic and then as an industrial scale mechanic.

He had his own business in Spokane, where he worked as a handyman for local businesses and individuals.

He loved to fish and enjoyed all sports, especially baseball.

Richard is survived by his wife, Michiko; and his three children, Carla, Karen, and Richard; daughter-in-law Suzette; his three grandchildren, Mark Peterson, Jr., Nicolle Hamm, and Connor Hamm; his brother, Jack Hamm of Corona, CA; and his sisters Donna Limp of Salem, IN and Georgia Stuart of Indianapolis, IN.

Richard was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and he will be missed by all who knew him.

A private service will be held at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery.
