Obituary: Mays, John “Johnie”, Iii

Age 46

MAYS, John “Johnie”, III
(Age 46)

Born June 23, 1966, passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, October 31, 2012.

After a 12-year battle with cancer, he’s finally resting peacefully, pain free, in the loving arms of Jesus.

Johnie was the father to five children, an avid baseball fan, player, and coach, and a huge Hard Rock CafĂŠ pin collector.

He spent much of his time in the lumber section of Home Depot, helping customers in their construction endeavors.

To him, Chevy ruled, Dave Matthews Band rocked, and Klondike bars were the greatest treat on the planet.

Johnie was a smiling man, one you could depend on for strength, hope, and support.

His example taught us what courage looked like.

And resilience too.

Johnie is survived by his five children, son Jacob and daughters Kendall, Elizabeth, Shelby, and Morgan, his mother Lolly, his sister Kim, brother Rick, brother-in-law Todd, grandson Hunter, nieces Gina and Nicole, nephew Robert, son-in-law Adam, and a loving extended family.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 12th from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. at The Historic Davenport Hotel in the Pennington Ballroom.

Pastor Josh Martin will be officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society.
