Lind-Ritzville/Sprague wins State 2B opener

Connor O’Neill ran for three first-half touchdowns and Lind-Ritzville/Sprague cruised past Tekoa-Oakesdale 42-14 in a State 2B first-round game Friday night at Ritzville.

Tyler Frederick added a 34-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter that put the Broncos (10-0) ahead 35-0 heading into halftime.

The Nighthawks (8-2) got on the board in the fourth quarter when quarterback Micah Pittsley found Clay Shelton on a 31-yard touchdown connection.

Lind-Ritzville/Sprague will host the DeSales Irish in the quarterfinals next weekend, either at West Valley High or Gonzaga Prep.

Reardan 20, Kittitas 14: The Indians eliminated the Coyotes in Kittitas.

Reardan (8-2) will play Waitsburg-Prescott in the quarterfinals next weekend.

Jonathan Holdren scored four rushing touchdowns to lead LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus to a 52-36 win over Almira/Coulee-Hartline at Coulee City.

Joey Guske added two passing scores for the Tigercats (8-3). The Warriors (8-3) were led by Drew Isaak, who threw for three scores and returned a kickoff 60 yards for another touchdown.

LaCrosse-Washtucna will play Liberty Christian in a State 1B quarterfinal game next week.

Liberty Christian 90, Odessa-Harrington 26: Reace Howard ran for four touchdowns and the Patriots (11-0) routed the Titans (6-5) in Pasco to earn a spot in the state tournament. Howard ran for 161 yards on just 10 carries.

Mike Olson threw for three scores – two of which went to Tyler Morris – for Liberty Christian. Morris also scored on a 43-yard interception return.

Sam Schafer had two rushing touchdowns and a receiving score to lead Odessa-Harrington, which saw its season come to a close.

Cusick 60, Columbia-Inchelium 16: Alex Bluff had three rushing touchdowns and two receiving scores to lead the Panthers (11-0) past the visiting Lions (7-4).

Ryan Sample threw for three scores and added two rushing touchdowns for Cusick, which advanced to the state playoffs.

The Panthers will play Wellpinit or Touchet next weekend.

Prosser scored the game’s first three touchdowns and the Mustangs cruised to a 56-19 win over Pullman in a first-round game in Pullman.

Justin Cillay scored two touchdowns to lead the Greyhounds (6-4). He gained 159 yards on 29 carries. Jake Stanizewski ran for 58 yards on 12 carries and scored Pullman’s other touchdown.
