Central claims GNAC football title

 

Kevin Puckett started Central Washington off and running with a 62-yard interception return for the game’s first score and Jordan Todd added 192 yards rushing and three touchdowns as the Wildcats (7-4, 7-3) breezed to a 51-19 victory over the Dixie State Red Storm (3-8, 3-7) in Great Northwest Athletic Conference football on Saturday in Ellensburg.

Western Oregon’s 38-22 win over Humboldt State gave the Wildcats the outright GNAC title.

Ryan Robertson completed 18 of 19 passes, including the final 15 of his career, for 249 yards and three TDs for Central.

Pacific Lutheran 38, Menlo 22: Dalton Ritchey passed for 342 yards and four TDs and ran for another score to propel the visiting Lutes (7-2) to a nonconference win over the Oaks (4-6) at Atherton, Calif.

Willamette 55, Puget Sound 0: Josh Dean passed for 358 yards and four TDs and ran for two scores to power the Bearcats (8-2, 4-2) to a Northwest Conference win over the visiting Loggers (0-9, 0-6) at Salem, Ore.

Carroll College 36, Dickinson State 0: The host Fighting Saints (7-4. 7-3) blanked the Blue Hawks (2-9, 1-9) in the season finale at Helena.

Carroll missed the playoffs for the first time since 2000.
