Obituary: Kumpon, Robert Milton

Robert Milton

Bob passed away peacefully on October 30, 2012, at Hospice of Spokane. He is survived by his loving family, Lucy Kumpon, wife of 50 years and his daughters and sons in-law, Elissa and Steve Weitensteiner, Christina Didier, Elaine and Troy Watson; son, Andy Kumpon; his grandchildren, Stephanie Weitz, Shane Weitenstiener, Kendall and Emma Watson; and preceded in death by his granddaughter, Mackenzie Tate Watson.
Robert was born in Binghamton, New York, May 2, 1931. Bob was in the ROTC while attending college at Cornell University and joined the Army then transferred to the Army Reserve from 1956 -1961. He moved to California in 1961 where he met his beautiful wife Lucille and married in 1962.
While living in California, Bob searched out Spokane some, 47 years ago. He brought his family to the land of, “four seasons and a thousand lakes.” He started off selling insurance and then became a 26 year veteran as a pharmaceutical sales representative for McNeil Labs with Johnson and Johnson, and retired in 1993.
Bob enjoyed the great outdoors and found his greatest peace, joy and frustrations as an avid fisher targeting, Perch, Bluegill, and Walleye by boat, shore or on the ice. Additionally, he enjoyed bird hunting with his son Andy and his labs on the Snake River canyons. He was a fan of sports and loved watching his favorite basketball team, the Gonzaga Bulldogs and going to the Indians ball games with his granddaughters. Bob always had great stories to share with his family and friends and had a wonderful sense of humor that would put a smile on everyone’s face.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to those who knew him. Bob passed at the young age of 81, leaving us so many fond memories of the great “Bobalu.” May you find peace and happiness, spread your heavenly wings upon us, touch us once again with your love. You will never be forgotten and your light will always be shining in our hearts. Your family loves you and you will be greatly missed.
The family would like to thank the Hospice of Spokane for their support and loving care for Bob. In lieu of flowers the family prefers a donation be made in memory of Robert Kumpon to Hospice of Spokane, P.O. 2215 Spokane, WA 99210.
