Othello runs past Cheney in State 2A football

Miguel Garza passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more to propel the Othello Huskies to a 42-7 victory over the Cheney Blackhawks in a State 2A football playoff game on Saturday in Othello.

Cheney’s lone score came in the second quarter when quarterback Andrew Graham connected with Eric Igbinoba for a 12-yard touchdown.

Josiah Peterson added a pair of rushing touchdowns for Othello, which took control of the game by outscoring the Blackhawks 21-0 in the third quarter.

River View 27, Chewelah 14: Alonso Mendoza returned a fumble 34 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter to help the Panthers hold off the Cougars in a State 1A game in Chewelah.

The Cougars scored on a pair of TD runs by Derek Smith. Smith’s 4-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter pulled Chewelah to within 20-14 before Mendoza’s return wrapped up the victory for River View.

Touchet 76, Wellpinit 36: The Indians used a 30-point second quarter to run away for a State 1B play-in victory over the Redskins in Touchet.

The Indians scored eight rushing touchdowns. They added one passing touchdown and capped their scoring with a kickoff-return TD.

Wellpinit quarterback AJ Kieffer rushed 31 times for 388 yards and four touchdowns.

Fruitland 33, Timberlake 0: Joe Martarano threw a pair of touchdown passes to Hagen Graves and Fruitland added three touchdown runs to power to a victory over the Tigers in an Idaho 3A state playoff game at Spirit Lake.

Fruitland led just 8-0 at the half, but took control with the first of Martarano’s TD passes and a 2-yard Chase Fiddler TD run in the third quarter.
