Obituary: Hill, Donald Charles

Age 70

HILL,
Donald Charles

Beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, passed away November 5, 2012 at home with his wife, son and granddaughter beside him.
Don was born August 13, 1942 in Tonopah, Nevada to Eugene and Irene Hill.

After his father returned from the war and two more children were born, the family moved to Reno, Nevada where Don grew up.

He loved riding his horse and spending time outdoors.

He rode his horse in parades, long distance races and in rodeos racing bareback around the arena carrying the flag.
After graduating Reno High School, Don served in the Air National Guard.

He started working at The Nugget as a Keno writer and soon worked his way up to Casino Keno Manager and stayed there until 1978 when he moved to Las Vegas to become Casino Keno Manager for Circus Circus Casino.

In 1983 he hired Sue Strobridge as a writer, not knowing that several years of friendship and respect would become love and marriage in 1999.

When Don retired in 2005 they moved to their retirement home they had bought in the woods outside of Cheney.

What a blessing to move here close to the children and meet such wonderful people, who became very dear friends.
Don is survived by his wife Sue, sons Ray (Treena) Head (Spokane Valley), Kenneth (Tami) Head (Las Vegas, NV); sister Diana (Bob) Rhodes (Reno, NV); 10 grandchildren, one great-grandson, nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at Cheney Seventh-Day Adventist Church 12905 W. 6th Ave., Four Lakes, WA.

99014 on Sunday November 18 at 3 pm.

A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of Spokane.
