Assault among arrests last week in Liberty Lake

The Liberty Lake Police Department had a quiet week Nov. 5-12, making only four arrests. Two of the arrests were for driving with a suspended license and one was on a Spokane warrant for driving with a suspended license.

The fourth arrest came after a woman called police at shortly before 1 a.m. Fridayto report that she had been assaulted. The woman said she was riding her bike and called a man to come and give her a ride home to Spokane, said Police Chief Brian Asmus. The man became upset when the bike wouldn’t fit in his car and when the woman tried to leave he grabbed her wrists, Asmus said. The man reportedly followed the woman before she was able to get away and call police, he said.

The man involved in the incident, a 30-year-old resident of Spokane, was arrested on a charge of fourth-degree assault.

An employee at a business in the 2200 block of North Molter Road called police at 1 p.m. Friday to report that a patient had previously stolen a prescription pad from the location and was writing himself prescriptions for pain medication. When the patient tried to obtain a new prescription from the doctor, office staff confronted him and he fled, Asmus said. The case is under investigation.

Two neighbors arguing over the late-night use of a washer and dryer in the 22800 block of Country Vista Drive at 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 were advised to work out the issue without pounding on doors and calling the police, Asmus said. A hit-and-run accident was reported in the post office parking lot on Nov. 5.

During the week officers handed out three citations for failure to show proof of liability insurance and six for speeding. Additional citations were given for license and plates required, defective windshield wipers and use of a cellphone.
