Skip party, help victims

Do we really need another blowout inauguration party in January? Nothing is going to top the 2009 event for size and expense. How about all the money intended for the 2013 inauguration parties being transferred to a fund to help rebuild the houses destroyed by Hurricane Sandy?

I recently read that the first-term travel and personnel costs for the Obamas totaled $1.4 billion. Surely a little austerity is appropriate in these hard times. This could show that we are the “United” States.
