Thanksgiving noted by area churches

A few Spokane Valley churches are holding events this week in observance of Thanksgiving, offering a chance for people to pause and give thanks.

• The congregations of Advent Lutheran Church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will gather for their annual tri-parish Thanksgiving worship service and dinner at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. The gathering will be held at Advent Lutheran, 13009 E. Broadway Ave.

Those attending are asked to bring canned food items or cash for the Spokane Valley Partners Food Bank.

• A Thanksgiving eve worship service will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church, 8304 E. Buckeye. Donations of canned food items for Spokane Valley Partners will be collected. There will also be a dessert potluck following the service.

• The choir of Opportunity Christian Church will host a potluck Thanksgiving meal following the 10:30 a.m. worship service Sunday. The church will provide the turkey, rolls, stuffing and gravy.

The worship service will also include a performance by a choir from the Mukogawa Fort Wright Institute.

Sunday market

The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection will host a Sunday Market mini-bazaar beginning at 8:30 a.m. Sunday. The sale will include homemade items such as sweet-hot mustard, dilly green beans, lemon curd, blueberry jam and apple butter.

The church is at 15319 E. Eighth Ave.

Turkey bingo

The Knights of Columbus of St. Mary’s Catholic Church will host turkey bingo Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. in the parish hall, 304 S. Adams Road. Bingo cards will be available at six for $5 or $1 each. Refreshments will be available for purchase.
