NFL notes: Eagles hope Foles is future

Associated Press

The Eagles think Nick Foles can be their quarterback of the future, but they don’t really know.

Foles wasn’t the first or second pick in the draft like Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III. He was the 88th pick. The seventh quarterback off the board.

The Eagles really need this third- round hunch to come in. Michael Vick almost certainly won’t be back next year. And if Foles, who will make his first start today against the Redskins, isn’t the answer, that’s one more thing they’ll have to put on their 2013 shopping list.

Chiefs fans organize “blackout”

Chiefs season-ticket holder Eric Granell’s passion for Kansas City runs so deep that, as this season spiraled out of control en route to a 1-8 record, he and another fan, Marty McDonald, created an organization called Save Our Chiefs, which is demanding the dismissal of general manager Scott Pioli.

Save Our Chiefs has hired an aircraft to fly a banner over Arrowhead. It will read “Restore Hope – Fire Pioli – Save Our Chiefs.com.” The grassroots group also has organized what it is calling a “blackout” and is encouraging fans to wear black instead of Chiefs red.

Quick kicks
