Age 87

FOWLER, Betty J. Betty J. Fowler, born May 23, 1925 to Harry and Mary (Jacques) Marking in Chicago, Illinois; passed away November 14, 2012 in Spokane.

She attended the Art Institute, Chicago, 1937-39; Stratton Business College, Chicago, 1942-43; Columbia University, 1946-47; B.A.

Eastern Washington University, Cheney, 1984.

She was a member of the public relations department, Girl Scouts of the USA, New York City, 1961-63; administrative assistant to editor-in-chief, Scholastic Magazines, New York City, 1963-68; administrative director and dance company director of Leonard Fowler Dancers; director Fowler School of Classical Ballet, Inc., New York City, 1959-78; teacher of ballet, 1956-61; editor, Bulletin, Kiwanis weekly publication, Spokane and administrative secretary, Kiwanis Downtown Club, Spokane, 1978-82; instructor, Spokane Falls Community College, 1978; founder of Safe Water Coalition of Washington State, 1988; listed in biographical works including “Who’s Who in America,” 48th edition, 1994.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Sherry Mareth Connors; two grandchildren, Scott Connors and Kym Ramey; three great-grandchildren, Corinne Connors, Gabrielle Connors, and Connor Ramey.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, November 21, at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
