GIBSON, Richard J. “Papa” (Age 64) Richard Gibson entered into rest after a courageous four month battle of cancer with family by his side on November 7th, 2012 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Richard was born to Herbert and Esther Gibson on September 18th, 1948 in Chewelah, WA. In 1958 the family moved to Spokane, WA where Richard graduated from Rogers H.S. in 1967. At the age of 19 he moved to the Seattle area. Shortly after, he started working for US West Communications. After 34 years with the company, he retired in 2003. Richard continued to work part time until 2011 when he fully retired and relocated to Lake Havasu City, AZ. Richard loved to be surrounded by family and friends. Richard had a big sense of humor but an even larger heart that has touched the lives of many. He was a devoted father, loving grandfather, and a great friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Ray; and sisters, Violet, Shirley, Ellen, and Mary. He is survived by his partner of 25 years Mark Rich; two children, daughter Jessica (Anthony) and son Josh (Shannon); three grandchildren Tyler, Emma and Evelyn; two stepdaughters Christina and Tracy; five step grandchildren; two siblings Don Gibson and Linda Spink; as well as numerous extended family and loving friends. The family will be holding a service at a later date. Richard’s family would like to thank New Hope Hospice of Lake Havasu City, AZ.
